Nursing classes offered at Higher Ed

Interested in taking the nursing assistant/home health aide course?

Due to popular demand, this course will again be offered by Cook County Higher Education. It allows students to get work experience in the field during the course and to start working while in the course.

This Lake Superior College fourcredit course will be offered most likely on Thursday and Saturdays. Classes will be held at the North Shore Campus and at the North Shore Care Center. The instructor is Mark Abrahamson; the fee is expected to be about $800 plus books.

Included will be “Home Health Aid,” which provides routine individualized healthcare such as changing bandages and dressing wound, and applying topical medications to the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities at the patient’s home or in a care facility. Nursing assistants offer a variety of duties within the medical facility such as changing bedpans, pushing patients in wheelchairs, making beds, feeding patients, grooming them, and other general tasks.

Call 218-387-3411 or highered@northshorecampus.org for more information.
