Nursing Assistant training course starts May 28





The North Shore Care Center in Grand Marais, in collaboration with Lake Superior College, will be offering the Nursing Assistant & Home Health Aide training course beginning Thursday, May 28.

The classes, taught by instructor Mark Abrahamson, will meet from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday and Thursday afternoons and every other Saturday beginning May 30 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the North Shore Hospital classroom. Three eighthour shifts of clinical experience will be offered at the Care Center between July 8 and July 10.

The cost for the four-credit course is $539.24 plus books. Certification testing will be an additional fee. Qualifying students may apply for financial aid through the Northeast Minnesota Office of Jobs and Training.

All successful registrants must have a mantoux screening test for tuberculosis within the last year, as well as a background check before class begins.

Registration forms are available at Cook County Higher Education in Grand Marais. Class size is limited and registration is due in by May 20.
