Cook County Higher Education, in collaboration with Lake Superior College and the North Shore Care Center, will be offering the Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide training course beginning Thursday, Jan. 19. The eightweek course, taught by instructor Mark Abrahamson, will meet from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on three Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Lectures will be held at the North Shore Campus in Grand Marais. In addition, three eight-hour shifts of clinical experience will be offered at the Care Center. Make-up classes may be arranged in advance with the instructor.
This course meets the Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health prerequisite for LPN and RN programs.
All successful registrants must have a mantoux screening test for tuberculosis within the last year, as well as a background check before class begins.
The cost for the four-credit course is $741.36 plus books. Qualifying students may apply for financial aid through the Northeast Minnesota Office of Jobs and Training. Randy Back, career counselor, will be at the North Shore Campus on Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to discuss financial aid options.
