November events at the Care Center include turkey, bingo and music

There will be an abundance of activities for the residents at North Shore Health Care Center in November. The cooler weather has brought us back inside to enjoy some of our favorite indoor activities. There will be lots of crafting going on in preparation for our annual Holiday Sale to be held on Dec. 9. The residents will also be making some potato soup, and trying some new recipes like “pumpkin smoothies.”

The monthly birthday party will be held on Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. to honor Skip Rouser and Joyce Hagen. There will be plenty of cake and ice cream along with favorite piano tunes by Doug Sanders.

On Nov. 11 we will host a Veterans History and Honor social to recognize our veterans here at North Shore Health Care Center. Our veterans include Bob Heideman, Sweeney Croft, Darold Larson, Stanley Suck, Lu Pettijohn, Rolf Skrien, and John Baumann. Many thanks to each of you for the sacrifices you made for all of us.

Nov. 17 will be a busy day for the residents. An outing is planned to go to the Senior Center for a wonderful lunch, and to visit with our friends there. In the afternoon we will host our annual “Turkey Bingo,” giving the residents an opportunity to win a real turkey for their family or friends.

Thursday afternoons find the residents playing their favorite game—bingo! The annual “turkey bingo” will be held on Nov. 17 following a lunch outing to the Senior Center.

The Lioness Club will host their monthly social with delicious desserts on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m., and Irene Thompson will be back to perform her old-time favorite tunes on the piano.

Additional live music in November will feature Myron Bursheim on Sundays, Al Fuller on Mondays, and Susan Scherer on Wednesdays.

“Hilja’s Happy Hour” will kick off the holiday season on Nov. 22 with festive drinks and snacks for all to enjoy.

The residents will celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 24. We’ll watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in the morning, followed by a turkey dinner with all the fixings. Visiting with family and friends, reminiscing about family traditions, and of course watching football games will fill the rest of the day!

During this season of giving thanks, the residents and staff at North Shore Care Center want to express their gratitude to the many volunteers who so generously give their valuable time throughout the year. We also want to thank the community churches that share the effort to provide an ecumenical service for the residents every Sunday. Thank you for everything that you do for us!
