Every Tuesday a group of women gather at Java Moose in Grand Marais to visit over coffee with skeins of yarn, pieces of felt, bits of string, beads and more scattered across the table. The lively group is the Northwoods Fiber Guild and their beautiful handiwork will be on display—and for sale—at the guild’s annual holiday show and sale at the Grand Marais Art Colony on Saturday, December 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the group’s latest gathering, Northwoods Fiber Guild President Ann Hegg paused from her project to invite everyone to come and see what the Fiber Guild has been doing. She said as in years past, there will be fiber art demonstrations, a treat table of delectable goodies and a fun hands-on craft, yet to be announced. “It’s a sale,” Hegg said, “But it’s also a chance to learn more about fiber arts.”
Stop by the Art Colony on Saturday, December 5 to see the big evergreen tree filled with handmade ornaments. Find the perfect mittens, basket, card, piece of pottery, jewelry, scarf or rugs for your special someone. The best part? Meeting the artists who created it all. You just might decide to join them at the next Tuesday gathering!
