Fast-footed Alexis (Lexi) Plummer took first place in the U-7 co-ed division at the United States Log Rolling Association National Tournament held in Hudson, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 14.
The nimble Northshore Roller beat two boys to take her first age group title.
Paige Everson took 4th in the day’s deepest field of rollers, the Girls’ U-13 division.
Allesandra (Ali) Duclos placed 4th in the Girls’ U-10 age group with Taylor Everson finishing just behind her in 5th.
Wellesley Howard- Larsen took 3rd in the Girls’ U-17 division.
Top three finishers were awarded engraved glass trophies.
Because the National tournament is the last of 2015, Super Series awards are given out at the end of the meet. The top three finishers in each division are given wooden plaques engraved with their names. Super Series awards are based on how many meets a log roller takes part in, and points are awarded on how well an athlete places at those meets.
A roller has to compete in at least five tournaments to be eligible to receive a Super Series Award.
Although they have by far the farthest drive to get to meets, the Super Series is where the Northshore Rollers shined for their consistency over the course of a long season.
Taylor Everson, who has been a top finisher at all of her meets, placed third in the Girls’ U-10 Super Series with Ali Duclos, also a high placer in the meets she attended, finishing 6th.
Alexis Plummer finished second in the U-7 Coed Super Series (based on points) but only rolled in four meets so she didn’t qualify for a plaque.
Paige Everson finished 5th in the Girls’ U-13 SS with Brandi Collman placing 15th and Amber Collman placing 19th. Tanner Collman finished 4th in the Boys’ U-10 Super Series. The Collmans hail from Cromwell, Minnesota but when they can, they roll with the Northshore Rollers.
Wellesley Howard- Larsen placed 4th in the U-17 Girls’ Super Series and Dominic Wilson finished 7th in the U-13 Boys’ bracket.
The team has a couple of months off before the next season begins. They will be training this winter at the Cook County Community YMCA. If you see white water churning in the pool, you will know the team is practicing at full throttle.
