Northern Perspectives: Local Color opens June 29

Northern Perspectives artist Joi Electra has painted the woods and waterways—and resorts—of the North Shore and the Gunflint Trail for many years. Some of her work, like this magnificent pine, was on display at the Trail Center Winter Plein Air exhibit. With Electra in the show are two North Shore photographers David Grezden and John Gregor.

A scheduling snafu means that fans of the Thunder Bay Water

Colour Society may be disappointed. However, the show will go on at the Johnson Heritage Post, thanks to three talented North Shore artists who were willing to step in and share their work— Joi Electra of Silver Bay and John Gregor and David Grezdens of Two Harbors. The artists have combined Electra’s plein air paintings and the two men’s photography to create Northern Perspectives: Local Color.

The show opens Friday, June 29 with a reception from 5 – 7 p.m. Northern Perspectives: Local Color will continue through July 15.
