North Shore Storm JV runs at Proctor Lions Invitational



As the regular cross country running season winds down and runners start to work towards their peaks for sections and potentially the state meet, North Shore Storm head coach April Wahlstrom chose to have her boys’ and girls’ varsity teams train through the Proctor Lions Invitational and instead brought her junior varsity and some junior high runners to the October 16 meet.

Girls’ JV

The girls’ JV was led by Isabel Schottenbauer’s fourth-place finish. Her time for the 5K was 23:19.

The next four runners in for the Storm were Brooklyn Smith, 8th place, 23:33; Anna Hay, 16th place, 24:25; Emily Seipke 17th, 24:48; and Cecelia Chmelik, who finished in 21st place with a time of 25:36.

Finishing in the following order was Robin Hendrickson, 23rd

26:18; and Sidni Hendren, 25th place, 26:31; Jocelyn Carr placed 47 in 26:44; Payton Dobin, took 49th in 26:48; Lizzy Dover placed 50th in 26:52; Kylie Viren took 51st in 26:53; Elsa Garry placed 57th in 27:35; Shawnda Everson took 59th in 27:43; Greta Roth placed 75th and crossed the line in 29:30; Ellen Callender finished 82nd was 31:19; Halle Lamb was 83rd in 31:21; Abbey Stoddard placed 86th in 32:27.

Boys’ junior high

Brayden Schmidt placed fourth in the boys’ 3200-meter run with a time of 9:34. Gus Hahn finished in 34th place in 10:42; Silas Brandt placed 40th in 11; Haddon Taylor took 61st in 11:42; and Reed Cruikshank placed 89th in 17:27.

Boys’ JV

Kevin Viren placed 9th with a time of 19:22. Tate Crawford finished in 10th place in 19:31. Tanner DeBoer finished 11th in 19:32; Henry Dearruda-Weaver placed 15th and was under 20 minutes with a time of 19:58. And Keegan Morrison was the team’s fifth runner finishing in 23rd place with a time of 20:34.

Other North Shore Storm runners, their times and places were: Jonah Schmidt placed 32nd in 21:03; Trent Spry finished 51st in 22:35; Hayden Johnson placed 95th in 23:27; and Tristen Surbaugh finished 97th in 23:35.

The varsity competed on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Cloquet in the Minnesota High School League Section 7A cross country championship to see who will advance to the state cross country meet.
