North Shore Master Woodland Program offered

Do you own property within three miles of Lake Superior along the North Shore? If so, a new program is being introduced that you may be interested in joining.

Called the Lost Forest/ Master Woodland Owner Program, it is being hosted by the North Shore Stewardship Association and the University of Minnesota Extension.

This comprehensive education program teaches you the ins and outs of caring for your woods, tree planting to fit your schedule and budget, estate planning, and more. It takes years to grow a healthy forest. Through this program, you can learn how to cultivate, care for, and plan for the future of your woodland or North Shore property.

The schedule includes four woodland field tours (extremely popular with past Lost Foresters) and online modules. The field tours will be held on August 5 and 26 and on a September date to be determined. The online modules will start in September. The last field tour will be in April of 2018.

The class is open to anyone; however, the cost of the program for persons with woodland property along the North Shore of Lake Superior has been reduced to $100 per family through a grant from the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation. Registration is limited to 15 families. Please feel free to pass this info on to any of your North Shore neighbors who may be interested in the program.

To submit online registrations go to www.northshoreforest.org.
