On Friday, October 23, 2020, North Shore Health identified a confirmed employee case of COVID-19.
This employee diligently wore the personal protective equipment of a surgical mask and eyewear designed to protect both patients and employees. The contacts this employee had with other people while in the facility are considered to be low risk exposures. This means that interactions with this employee have not put people at a higher risk for COVID-19. In addition, this employee had not entered the Care Center in the last three weeks. “We are working collaboratively with the Minnesota Department of Health and continue to follow the recommended guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention,” said Kimber Wraalstad, North Shore Health CEO/Administrator.
Wraalstad states, “Please know that we are taking all precautions to stop the spread of this virus. For all of us at North Shore Health, providing the best possible care and protecting the health and wellness of our patients, residents and employees is our highest priority. Our dedicated professional caregivers are working tirelessly to prevent serious illnesses and provide compassionate support. We are taking all appropriate measures and doing everything possible to protect the health and wellness of all who come to North Shore Health.”
• All employees are screened for illness at the beginning of their shift.
• Employees who are ill or may have been exposed do not work and quarantine as appropriate.
