North Shore Health Care Foundation helps Tofte EMS

As part of its grants, this Fall the North Shore Health Care Foundation (NSHCF) awarded $7,500 to the Tofte Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to help with the purchase of a 2005 Ford Excursion to use for its potentially life-saving work.

The Ford Excursion comes from the Lutsen squad who is buying a new vehicle. Meanwhile, Tofte has promised their current vehicle, a 1991 Chevy Suburban, to the EMS department in Grand Marais.

“While the foundation does not usually fund this kind of equipment, the cooperation and the mutual benefit to the three groups made this grant a good exception,” said NSHC Foundation president Bob Fenwick.

“So far in 2016 we have given 13 grants totaling $35,169. 2017 will be another exciting year, and you can be a part of it. As we partner more with other organizations, it is our significant member base that gives us the ability to leverage more funding,” said Fenwick.

The following is a list and monetary awards that have been granted by the NSHC over the second and third quarters.

. North Shore Health- The Physical Therapy Department was given $2,295 for a Graston Technique 6 piece instrument set.

. Oshki Ogimaag Charter School- received $925 to pay for half of the cost for specialized training for Social Emotional Staff in Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
