As 2015 is in full swing we are reminded that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the North Shore Care Center and we want to recognize this special anniversary.
The Care Center was funded in 1962 and was completed in 1964 making this event a special addition to the North Shore Hospital, which opened in 1958.
On March 8, the Care Center will be celebrated with an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Care Center Community Room. This celebration honors all those who have helped to promote quality health care in Cook County since 1958: physicians, nurses, technicians, health care workers, employees, board members, volunteers and the public. We hope you come and help celebrate 50 years of quality health care in Cook County.
While at the celebration, you can also view plans for the renovation and improvements to the Care Center.
A number of events are planned to continue this celebration. May 10 is National Nursing Home Week. Many special activities are planned for that week including a Swing Band and Gala Evening.
On May 20, there will be a Volunteer Recognition Brunch honoring past and present volunteers.
Coming this summer, on June 17 there will be an Employee Appreciation Picnic recognizing past and present employees.
And of course in August as the community celebrates Fisherman Picnic; the Care Center will participate in the parade, celebrating Care Center residents.
This 50th anniversary celebration is supported by the North Shore Hospital and Care Center Auxiliary and we are grateful for the many generous donations of time and money by this community that have greatly benefited the Hospital and Care Center.
