This past weekend, January 7-8, the newly combined North Shore Bantams hit the ice first thing Saturday morning to kick off their first tournament action of the season.

The Bantams came out strong and fast in their first game and goalie Evan Sandretsky had his first-ever shutout as the North Shore Bantams defeated Greenway 7-0.

Their second game against Ashland that evening proved to be their toughest of the weekend. At the end of the second period they were down 4-0 and it was not looking good for our group of 20.

We can only assume there were some encouraging words of wisdom by our coaching staff in the locker room between periods because Will Peterson kicked off the third with a goal, followed by defenseman Carter LeBlanc, winger Daniel Anderson and center Ryan Rasmussen and wow, these boys were back in action and this game was headed to overtime!

Just three minutes into the sudden death OT Nathan Bauck got just enough on the puck for it to barely slide between the pipes and the North Shore Bantams claimed victory and advanced to the championship game.

Sunday’s championship game was against the alwaystough team from Duluth Denfeld. This third game was highlighted by two blistering shots at the blue line by defenseman Troy LeBlanc and our mighty North Shore Bantams dominated Denfeld 6-1 to earn 1st place hardware and advance their record to 11-1 for the season!
