With renovations completed, the former Grandma Rays/American Legion building has been converted into a teen center that will open its doors the first week of school.
Sharing the good news was program director Brad Shannon. “We are a faith-based non-profit organization with a mission to end hopelessness among teens in our community. We believe that teens are a vital part of our community and that growth happens from the inside out. Through grace-based programs and environments, we want to help teens learn to believe in their value and worth, capabilities, and potential. We have renovated the old American Legion to create a safe environment for teens, as you may have heard. We want every teen to believe three truths: I am loveable, capable, and worthwhile. I am loved without strings and never alone. I have a future.”
The teen center will be a place for youth to drop-in and hang out, do homework, chill, connect with friends, read a book, craft, charge their phone, wait before work, or school events, or whatever.
“It will be a safe space available to our teens,” said Shannon.
The first week of school programming will feature the following:
Drop-in Mon-Thu 3:30–5:30 p.m.
Mon/Tue/Thu: 8th-12th grades.
Wednesday: 6-8th grades.
The open hours are for youth to drop-in and hang out, do homework, chill, connect with friends, read a book, craft, charge their phone, wait before work or a school event, or whatever. A safe space available to our teens.
