North House announces “Core of Craft” programs




North House Folk School is pleased to announce six new Core of Craft offerings this May.

Through Core of Craft, year-round Cook County residents can qualify for reduced tuition rates on specific courses focused on skills for self-sufficiency. People who feel they have financial need may self-refer for a one-time 50 percent tuition reduction (Rate A). Or, people can qualify for a 90 percent reduction through referral (Rate B).

Spring offerings include Can-It-Yourself: Introduction to Canning; Sharpen-It-Yourself: Knife & Tool Sharpening Basics; Blacksmithing: Basics & Beyond; Blacksmithing: Crafting the Tools of the Trade; and Build Thoreau’s Cabin.

To apply, submit a Core of Craft registration form, available throughout the community on bulletin boards or at North House. Stop in or call 387-9762 for more information and class details. Registration is not available online.
