Summer art and craft camps at North House Folk School and the Grand Marais Art Colony are week-long day camps for youth ages 5 – 14 (or entering grades K-8). As a camper you will try out lots of skills while making new friends and having fun! Kids will be in a small group while they learn from instructors who are knowledgeable and excited to help youth learn about art and traditional crafts.
Families may sign kids up for morning or afternoon camps or both. Kids staying for both morning and afternoon sessions must bring a bag lunch each day, and will have a one-hour break between sessions to eat and relax. We encourage kids to bring a book or quiet game for their break; in good weather, they will have access to an outdoor space to play during lunch break.
If you sign your child up for a morning camp at one location and an afternoon camp at the other location, we will walk your child to their second-class location (the two locations are three blocks apart).
Kids Camps are accessible to families in Cook County regardless of financial status. Scholarships are available at both the North House and the Art Colony. You can request a scholarship in person or via phone at North House (for camps at North House) or the Art Colony (for camps at the Art Colony).
The camps at North House can be registered for online or by calling 387-9762. To register for the camps at the Art Colony, call 387-2737.
The camps will be held July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 5-9.
