After a lot of dry land training and now plenty of practice on their skis, the North Shore Storm Nordic (cross country) ski team is itching to race. However, the first two meets of the season were no-go’s, said North Shore Storm Nordic Ski Coach Jeanne Wright.
Wright is the head coach of the combined Cook County/Two Harbors Nordic Ski Team.
“The first meet scheduled at Proctor was canceled due to snow (an ironic twist for a ski team!). The second meet scheduled for Tuesday, December 20, did take place, but due to the snowfall on the north shore and strong winds, we were not able to travel to it, which has been a challenging start to the season.
Practices are optional over the break, so we might schedule a few skis with our teammates from Two Harbors at Sugarbush and/or Bearskin. We will also be having a waxing party – where skiers learn the finesse of applying their own glide wax.”

February 2, Thursday: Duluth Snowflake. February 8, Wednesday: Sections at Giant’s Ridge.
February 15/16, Wednesday/ Thursday: State Meet at Giant’s Ridge.
