A lot of head holding and hand wringing by officials at the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) may have been solved by one of the commander’s four-year-old daughters.
As many know, NORAD is responsible for conducting aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning in defense of North America. It goes without saying that it’s a pretty important job.
And stressful.
That said, it seems that there has been a lot of “commotion” at the North Pole lately that has been, up to now, unexplainable. One official, who asked to remain anonymous, described it this way.
“Our pilots have been witnessing flying reindeer pulling sleighs. They appear to be practicing maneuvers of some kind, landing on the tops of mock-up houses and then quickly departing. Why they are doing that is a mystery. And they are traveling at a high rate of speed.
“Meanwhile, our cameras in the sky are recording small people with pointy ears dressed in colorful clothes that appear to be working on some mysterious project. We don’t know what it is because they wrap it in a package every time they finish a component and put a bow and ribbon on it. It could be some advanced technology that could threaten the planet. We’re just not sure.
“Last but not least, there is a jolly old man with a long white beard who is dressed in red and wearing shiny black boots that seems to be the ringleader of all of this. He’s definitely in charge. That is, until his wife comes by and then there’s a shift in leadership for a while, at least. All in all, we’ve got the best and brightest minds working to solve this mystery.”
When he finished speaking, one of the children who was visiting her mother at the command center warily approached us and asked to speak.
“Sure,” what’s up?” asked the official, bending down to look in her wide brown eyes that snapped with fire as he tousled her curly brown hair.
Through a wide, picket fence grimace, little Adair loudly proclaimed, “Hey, doesn’t you know about Santa Claus? His reindeer? And the tiny elves that make presents for children,” she said as she stomped her foot three times.”
“Aha!” Said the official. “Seems like we had forgotten about Santa.”
And with that, he directed his crew to get ready to trace the jolly old elf with radar as Santa delivers presents to children the world over on Christmas day.
If you want to follow the official NORAD Santa Tracker on Thursday, December 24, Google it, and it will come up on your computer. There’s at least one little girl who will be curious enough to follow Santa on the NORAD Santa Tracker.
