We sat on last week’s letter for a month giving the commissioners time to admit they made a mistake on the plowing of Irish Creek, Tom Lake and Powers Lake roads. They chose not to do so. We guess that Jan Hall is the only commissioner who understands English—that an area that the county zoning labeled a “No Service Zone” means no service! The commissioners ignored the zoning department and also ignored Jan Hall’s opinion.
Jim Johnson chose not to hear what we said at the meeting but was the first one to say to keep their mistake going. County Engineer David Betts drew up the plat to be covered. Russell Klegstad set up a fee that property owners would be assessed. The county is putting out bids for the snow plowing and will be paying the person who gets it. Then a county employee will put the cost on our tax statements. These are all county services that take county employees to do.
These few people chose to live in the wilderness and they signed waivers saying they would not ask for county services when they got their building permits. Now they are asking that the majority of their neighbors, who don’t use the roads in the winter, should be forced to pay for snow plowing!
There is no way that these people who signed the petition could take advantage the way they are of their many neighbors who don’t use the roads in winter without county involvement. They should have their own plowing and split the cost among the ones using the roads. The county should not be involved.
