No-service zone should not be serviced by county

A few people brought a petition to the county board to have the Irish Creek Road, the Tom Lake Road and the Powers Lake Road plowed. These roads are State Forest roads. Wilderness Shores is included and that is a private road. The meeting was held in November when none of the summer resident people were here to protest.

The majority of the people who signed the petition have signed waivers stating they would not ask for county services when they got their building permits. Some of the people who signed the petition are not even on the plowing list which shows who will help pay for the plowing. We were told that they could do that, seeing as the county wouldn’t be paying for the plowing. We see it as a county service with the county hiring someone else to plow and charging it on our tax statements.

It is fine that people want to live in the wilderness, but they shouldn’t expect everyone else to be forced to pay for their convenience. It would set a precedent for others throughout the county to do the same thing. It is not fair that less than 1/4 of the people on the plow list can force over 3/4 of us that are left to pay for their plowing bill.

That territory was set up in a no-service zone by county zoning. The ones who signed the petition should have their own plowing and divide the cost among themselves. Let the county board know how you feel about this unfair deal immediately. We feel that the decision to plow should be revoked. The county shouldn’t have anything to do with it.
