Cook County Law Enforcement received a call at 6:36 p.m. on January 7, 2016 of a vehicle rolled over in the upper side of the ditch at mile marker 103, west of Thomsonite Beach Resort. Grand Marais Fire Department, Grand Marais First Responders and the Cook County Ambulance were paged and responded, but were cancelled as there were no apparent injuries to the driver, Philip Christopher Larson, 30, of Grand Marais.
Larson was traveling westbound on Highway 61 in a 2005 Pontiac Vibe when the accident occurred. Larson told the responding sheriff deputy that he lost control in the slush.
All responders were clear of the scene by 6:58 p.m.
The vehicle was totaled and had to be towed, however the highway was not blocked to traffic.
No citations were issued.
