No CO Tales

Once again, rioting— or the possibility of rioting in the Twin Cities has called for a halt to the well-liked and much read Conservation Officer (CO) Tales for the next two weeks.

Why don’t conservation officers send in their CO reports? That’s because many have been called to serve with the police and National Guard to try to keep the peace in the Twin Cities while the Derek Chauvin trial is still ongoing. That and the latest incident involving the shooting of Dante Wright has stirred up an angry outpouring of protest; most protesters are peaceful but in the mix are folks who are there only to cause chaos and disruption.

For those sportsmen and women who will bend a rod and reel in the next week or so, please don’t use this excuse to bend the rules. There will still be officers out and about checking fishing licenses, boat registrations and making sure the public is following the rules. Just not as many.

Be safe. Be smart. Follow the rules for everyone’s sake and enjoy the outdoors. Thank your Conservation Officer (CO) for their service when they get back off the gritty city streets of Minneapolis and return to the woods and waters they love.
