Tammi Nicolaison, an advanced student in collision/ refinishing and chassis fabrication technology at WyoTech, was awarded the distinguished Collision Repair Education Scholarship on June 10, 2011. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a collision-refinishing student who demonstrates excellent classroom and shop performance and who shows clear leadership potential in the field of automotive collision repair.
This scholarship was funded through a donation from ABRA AutoBody & Glass. ABRA representatives James Sanson and Michelle DeMarais congratulated Tammi on her award.
“One of my personal career goals involves owning my own body shop and restoring classic cars,” stated Nicolaison in her scholarship application essay.
She credits her father with sparking her passion for cars early on and with fostering her desire to make a career out of that passion. “I plan to work in an established shop after I graduate and from there gain the experience I need to succeed on my own.”
As Nicolaison finishes up her coursework at WyoTech’s Laramie, Wyoming campus, she has clearly made a lasting impression on her instructors and classmates. “This kid is the real deal and has a very bright future ahead of her,” remarked Randy Svalina, one of WyoTech’s Education Coordinators.
“Whenever we mentioned Tammi’s name to a WyoTech staff person, they immediately smiled and told us we made the right choice,” said Dale Eslinger, who sat on the scholarship selection committee.
The Collision Repair Education Foundation supports philanthropic and collision repair education activities that promote and enhance career opportunities in the industry. WyoTech is an accredited career college that offers degree and diploma programs in the fields of automotive, diesel, collision refinishing, motorcycle, and marine technology.
Tammi is the daughter of Rusty and Linda Nicolaison of Grand Marais. She is a 2010 graduate of Cook County High School.
