On October 14, Cook County Public Health and Human Services announced the formation of “Growing Families”, a confidential virtual support group that meets weekly and is open to all caregivers.
“It is challenging to be pregnant, give birth, and adapt to parenting a toddler during the COVID-19 pandemic in our community,” says Cook County Public Health Educator and Growing Families facilitator, Sadie Sigford.
This group is open to all individuals and families experiencing pregnancy, postpartum issues, and raising children through two years of age. Whether you are awaiting your first child or adding a new sibling, this group welcomes your voice and experience. Connect with other parents and caregivers who are also in this stage of life for support and encouragement. Discussion topics may include practical ideas for managing anxiety, sharing parenting tips, the challenges of COVID-19, as well as subjects related to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
The group will meet Wednesdays 8-9 p.m. and Saturdays 10-11 a.m. every week beginning September 30, 2020.
A Zoom link will be available via email by contacting sadie.sigford@ co.cook.mn.us or through the closed Facebook group “Growing Families.”
