With a sparkling showroom featuring flooring, kitchen cabinets, counter tops, blinds and assorted hardware, 1010 Interiors has always had a lot to offer. But the addition of several more people to the staff will allow owner/operator LeAnn Zunker a chance to give her customers even greater services and more options to consider.
“Bryan Carpenter, a local contractor, began working here mid- July and Joe Kunshier is back from a six-year journey that stretched from Minnesota to California and back again,” said Zunker.
Zunker said adding Carpenter to her staff is a way to offer a wider range of possibilities for her clients.
“Bryan is a general contractor. He is very versatile. Now if a client brings in blueprints for a job we will be able to sit down and work with them and maybe be able to do all of the work. Our goal is to consult, design and build. That is the direction we are heading,” she said.
“LeAnn has done a great job of building her business,” said Carpenter. “I hope that I can help her make it even bigger,” he said.
For Kunshier this is a homecoming. “I’m really happy to be back in the community. It’s like I never left,” said Kunshier. “I worked here from 1998 to 2008. Then I left and moved to Santa Cruz, California for 1½ years, then moved back to Minnesota and worked in the food industry for 4½ years. It’s nice to be back and doing something I really like to do.”
The business has been changing, said Zunker. “The last couple of years we have done less with new buildings, but we have done a lot with remodeling. That has been really strong for us.”
Besides Carpenter and Kunshier, three other gentlemen, Jim Elverhoy, Randy Carlson and Larry McNeally also install tile and granite floors for 1010 Interiors.
“They are both talented and very good at what they do,” Zunker said of McNeally and Elverhoy.
“We have also welcomed Marla Huber as our new office manager. She isn’t here full time, but when she is here it will allow me to work with my clients in the Twin Cities,” said Zunker.
Many of those clients have second homes/cabins in Cook County and have worked with Zunker, who is a certified Kitchen Designer.
“Business is good right now. But we would like to grow. It’s exciting to have Joe back and Bryan onboard. They both have a lot of experience and talent. It feels like we are going in the right direction,” Zunker said.
