Look for artists painting throughout the Grand Marais area from Friday, August 26 – September 2 in the Grand Marais Art Colony Plein Air Contest. You may see folks like David Hahn of Hovland, an accomplished plein air artist.
The Grand Marais Art Colony invites artists to participate in the Plein Air Painting Competition & Exhibition, Aug. 26 through Sept. 2.
“This festival gets participants out into our scenic back yard to paint while also giving them the opportunity to put their artwork on display,” said Art Colony Director Amy Demmer.
Demmer said there are many new exciting features this year, including a month-long competition exhibit at the Johnson Heritage Post; increased prize money for competition winners; and numerous purchase award sponsors who are invested in buying competition artwork.
