New hires at I.S.D. 166




The Cook County I.S.D. 166 school board met on Thursday, May 10 and as part of their business accepted some resignations and made some hires for the coming 2018-2019 school year.

Megan Trumper has been hired as the new school counselor for 2018/2019. She will fill the vacancy that will be left Kris Hoffmann, who will leave at the end of the school year to take a job at Hutchinson, Minnesota. She has three years experience as a teacher in the Minneapolis public schools.

Autumn Hood was hired as the ECSE coordinator in the district finance office. She has worked two years as a teacher in the district.

Mila Horak will again teach art in the middle and high school. This will be Mila’s second year teaching art.

Andy Feddema was hired as the middle school social studies teacher next year. Andy replaces Peter Luckmann, who replaced Mitch Dorr this past year. Peter has accepted a teaching position in Sweden and Mr. Dorr has become a principal in the school district. This will be Andy’s first year as a teacher.

Sharon Van Ruiswyk will work as an ADSIS paraprofessional and Amanda Biehl will be middle school language teacher next year. This will be Sharon’s first year working as a paraprofessional; Amanda taught one year in Two Harbors.

Special Education paraprofessional Bruce Johnson gave a written resignation notice to the board announcing June 1, 2018 would be his last day on he job. Bruce added that he would consider subbing in the future.

Jennifer Sutton also gave notification that she was leaving her position as a paraprofessional effective at the end of the school year. She also mentioned she might be available to sub next year.

Erin Petz is leaving the district as a paraprofessional to go back to school to get her master’s degree in teaching (Spanish) at St. Scholastica. In her resignation letter Erin said, “My colleagues and students over the last two years have solidified my commitment to a career in education. It has also been a rewarding, full circle experience to encounter the school both as a student and now as a staff member.”
