New Hires and Promotions at the County



Cook County Commissioners approved the hiring of several new employees at the boards’ May 10 meeting.

Rory Anderson was hired as the new Soil and Water District Administrator. He will replace the vacancy left by Theresa Oberg who resigned.

Tia Parks, Lutsen, was offered the job as the Highway Department environmental Specialist. This is a new position at the Highway Department that was approved by the commissioners. Tia will be formally offered the job at the board of commissioners next regular meeting.

Abby Benusa, Minneapolis, was hired as the new Mental Health worker in the Public Health and Human Services department.

Jesse Backstrom was approved for promotion to become the new Highway Maintenance Supervisor. Jesse will replace Josh Dix who voluntarily transferred to a new position in the department.

Commissioners also approved the job description for a Public Health and Human Services (SHIP) Coordinator/ Public Health Educator. Traditionally this job has been contracted to the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic from PHHS. There is a stable grant from the Minnesota Department of Health that supports a part-time person.
