New Fire Chief for Maple Hill Community Fire Department

The Maple Hill Community Fire Department held its annual meeting on Wednesday, September 12 at the Fire Hall at 1392 Gunflint Trail. Maple Hill and Devil Track Lake residents showed their appreciation for the firefighters with a potluck dinner. After enjoying the dinner and lots of socializing, Fire Chief Ed Hedstrom announced that he was passing the reins to Kent Anderson, a long time Maple Hill resident and experienced firefighter.

Anderson was unanimously elected as the Maple Hill Community Fire Department’s Fire Chief. Anderson is a long time Maple Hill resident and experienced firefighter.

Hedstrom has served on the Maple Hill Community Fire Department for 36 years and as chief for 16 years. He will continue with the department as a senior member, firefighter and advisor.

Chief Anderson will be assisted in his new assignment by Brian Olson – assistant chief; Eleanor Waha – treasurer; and Phyllis Parker – secretary.
