New directory to feature non-profits, volunteer groups

The Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) and Northern Wilds Media Inc. are publishing a free directory of all nonprofit organizations and volunteer groups working in Cook County. When completed later this summer, the directory will be mailed to every home in the county, and be available at local businesses and organizations, as well as posted online.

“We are excited about pulling together this information for everyone in the county to access easily,” says CCCF board member Richard Olson, who is coordinating the project. “Cook County has over 100 non-profits and volunteer groups, and we want to make sure residents and visitors know how to find them, and how to help out. It’s an active community and this is something of value to everyone, to have complete information to connect donors/ volunteers to those groups in need.”

The project seeks the following information from each organization or volunteer group: Organization name, a short description of the mission and services provided (under 50 words), information on how to volunteer and how to give, and contact information including a mailing address, email, website, and phone. In addition a logo, photos and a longer description of the organization can be included for a small fee.

Leaders of non-profits and volunteer organizations in Cook County are urged to contact Northern Wilds Media to participate in the directory and receive a form via e-mail to enter the organization’s information. The deadline for entering information to be included in the directory is July 1.
