New community center supported by young people

Our Dad is teaching us to have an opinion on things and to be involved. So, we decided to tell you how we feel about the community center because we aren’t old enough to vote.

We would like to support the county commissioners in building a new community center. We think it would be a good thing to have the swimming pool next door to or near the school. Most of our friends feel the same way.

This last year we curled at the Community Center, and sharing it with other activities while trying to curl was not a good idea. It seemed that there was never enough room.

We hope you can find a way to make this happen while we are still in school, because playing volleyball or basketball in the old gym is yucky since the floor is all messed up. It causes us to lose points sometimes, and that isn’t fair. We understand this would help the school district save money on remodeling and maintenance.

Having better locker rooms for us and the competition is a good idea, too.

We don’t know very much about the YMCA, but from what we see in the paper it sounds like they might be a really good thing for us. This is our hometown and we can’t imagine growing up anywhere else. We just want what’s best for our school and our town. After all this is something that everybody would use.

Please consider all your town people when deciding what to do—even though we can’t vote, we should be able to have some say about our future.
