Two incumbents and one newcomer were elected to the Arrowhead Electric board of directors at the annual meeting held in the Arrowhead Center for the Arts (ACA) the morning of Saturday, June 9.
Once the ballots were counted Stan Tull, representing the Pike Lake area in District 5, and Mike Littfin, the Maple Hill representative in District 4, each retained their seats while Bob Nesheim will be the new board member representing the Colvill area for District 2.
Nesheim was running against Hillary Freeman to replace Sharon Bloomquist, who decided not to run again.
Stan Tull received 290 votes while Inger Andress picked up 195 votes in the District 5 contest.
Mike Littfin got 253 votes to edge Chris O’Brien, who received 234 votes in the District 4 race.
Bob Nesheim was elected to serve District 2 with 279 votes over Hillary Freeman, who received 198 votes.
Arrowhead Electric Cooperative has a seven-member board of directors. The other directors and the areas they serve are Bill Huggins, Schroeder and Tofte; Scott Harrison, Lutsen; Rollie Adkins, Gunflint Trail; and Roger Opp, Hovland and Grand Portage.
In other matters, the Arrowhead Electric board of directors appointed Jenny Kartes as the cooperative’s interim CEO in the wake of Joe Pandy’s announced retirement. Pandy retired on May 11 and Kartes, who has been with Arrowhead Electric since 2011 as the finance and administration manager, was named interim CEO by the board of directors on May 16.
