The Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization (AEAO) of Grand Marais is pleased to announce its first-ever aviation scholarship to anyone who aspires to a career in the aviation industry. This new $2,000 scholarship is made possible by the donations and fund-raising activities conducted by AEAO.
“We’re pleased to offer this significant scholarship thanks to the generous support and efforts of many contributors to our organization. It’s a great opportunity to help jump-start an aviation career for a local community member,” said Mike Raymond, President of AEAO. “I am particularly pleased that an anonymous donor helped us reach our goal of $2,000.”
Career options in aviation include maintenance technicians, pilots, flight attendants, fixed-base operators (FBO), airline scheduler/dispatcher, aviation sales, FAA air traffic controller, airport operations, unmanned aircraft systems and aeronautical engineers.
Anyone interested in this scholarship opportunity can pick up an application form at the Grand Marais airport office, 123 Airport Road, Grand Marais, MN 55604. Applicants must be enrolled within a year of acceptance of the scholarship into an aviation-training program with a Certified Flight Instructor or with an accredited aviation curriculum. The scholarship is limited to Cook County or Lake County residents who are at least 15 years or older. The scholarship winner will be announced at the discretion of AEAO. Each applicant will receive a mini-poster of the epic poem “High Flight.”
AEAO is comprised of individual aircraft owners and others interested in aviation. Our mission is to support Cook County’s airport and aviation tradition through promoting aviation events, airport enhancements, youth-oriented activities and opportunities, and to encourage community use and a friendly atmosphere at the Cook County/Grand Marais airport.
The deadline for scholarship applications is September 1, 2020.
