Neighbors share Stations of the Cross

Thecurrent exhibit at the Art Colony is a must see. Regardless of religious affiliation, the “Stations of the Cross” is a collection of artistic expression that will speak to you. A booklet filled with each artist’s explanation of their piece, guides you around the room. The intersection of art and religion is not uncommon. What is uncommon is the collaboration of the Spirit of the Wilderness Episcopal Church and the Grand Marais Art Colony which brought together a marvelous group of 28 local artists with varied backgrounds and media.

Theexhibit is a pilgrimage through the life and death of Jesus from The Garden of Gethsemane
through The Resurrection.
I think Mary Ellen Ashcroft sums it up very well in her written introduction. “As you look at these Cook County expressions of The Stations of the Cross
we invite you to see an ancient story in a new way – just as your neighbors have reached within themselves, and made these moments tangible in paint, fabric, paper, wood, glass or word.”

Do yourself a favor and stop in at the Art Colony to take in this exhibit! It is open March 21 – April 4. Theyhave some evening hours and some with music for meditation/reflection.
