National Day of Prayer May 4

While in recent times atheists and non-religious people have proclaimed the first Thursday in May as the “National Day of Reason” others are still mindful of the day that Congress set aside in 1952 as the “National Day of Prayer.”

On May 4 people of faith are encouraged to gather at the Cook County Courthouse steps from 12 to 1 p.m. Pastor Daren Blanck from Zoar Lutheran Church in Tofte will lead a prayer walk from the steps through town.

The national theme for 2017 is “For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us… Forgive Us…Heal Us!” which is inspired from Daniel 9:19.

Thousands of individuals, churches, and communities will be meeting on this day to pray for their families, communities, churches, cities, states, country, and people from throughout the world.
