A small group with a large mission joined thousands of others across the country, coming together to pray for our nation on Thursday, May 6. Pastor Dale McIntire (right) of Cornerstone Community Church welcomed participants to the courthouse steps to pray for local, regional, and national leaders. Pastor McIntire read the proclamation issued by President Barack Obama in which the president said, “I call upon the citizens of our nation to pray, or otherwise give thanks, in accordance with their own faiths and consciences, for our many freedoms and blessings, and I invite all people of faith to join me in asking for God’s continued guidance, grace, and protection as we meet the challenges before us.”
McIntire reminded all that we do not need a president, or king, or prime minister to give us permission to pray. Daryl Popkes of Grand Marais (far right) was one of about 20 people who took advantage of the freedom to petition God in prayer.
