National Association for Scholars is not unbiased

Garry (Gamble) cites the National Association of Scholars as an unbiased body. In fact, it appears to be a reactionary think-tank. According to the association history section of its website, “NAS was founded to confront the rise of campus political correctness.” According to a Sourcewatch article, “The National Association of Scholars (NAS) is a nonprofit organization in the United States that opposes multiculturalism and affirmative action and seeks to counter what it considers a ‘liberal bias’ in academia.”

The Sourcewatch article notes that “As of 2010 and 2011, writings appearing under the byline of Association president Peter W. Wood have attacked sustainability, climate science, and recent efforts exposing the PR push to cast doubt on climate science.” In an article entitled Bottling Up Global Warming Skepticism, Wood states, “Of course, manmade global warming is just one exhibit in the contemporary higher-education circus. If it grows stale, we have others.”

Representing that the NAS is an impartial source for comparing current education to that in Nazi Germany is doublespeak, which has its own troubled history.
