Nancy I. Wilson




Nancy I. Wilson, 79, of Woodstock, passed away, Friday, October 2, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 26, 1936 in Woodstock to Roy and Flora (Freeman) Thompson. She married Frank J. Wilson on September 3, 1958 in Belvidere. Together they celebrated 48 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 9, 2007.

Nancy was a member of the Illinois Bell Pioneers, having worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for many years. She was a member of the weavers guild, and she taught many classes on sewing and quilting. She was an avid weaver, quilter, knitter, and spinner. She also enjoyed cooking. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Randels, Suzanne Draffkorn-Sturlis, and Cheryl (Dan) Johnson; a son-in-law, Jim Kiefer; nine grandchildren, Jenny (Tim) Tierney, Jeff Kiefer, Becky (Ryan) Whiting, Amy (John) Green, Sarah (Antonio) Lerias, Joe Draffkorn, Katie Draffkorn, Courtney (Tony) Gonnella, and Emily Draffkorn; seven great-grandchildren, Emma Lerias, Elisa Lerias, Eliana Lerias, Elijah Lerias, Ava Green, Kaela Tierney, and Daniel Tierney; a brother, Richard (Charlotte) Thompson; a sister, Mary Ellen Perry; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank J. Wilson; her son Ricky Wilson; and her daughter Wanda Kiefer.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock and continued on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.
