Nancy Ann Nosker

Nancy Ann Nosker, 80, longtime resident of Grand Marais, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly in her home on May 10, 2020. This was the home that her father built prior to the birth of his first child; and the home in which she resided the majority of her life.

Nancy was born on April 23, 1940, to Ruby (Smakar) and Karl Edwin Lind in Grand Marais, Minnesota. After graduating from Cook County High School, she went on to study Home Economics at the University of Minnesota. While at the University, she met her husband, Jan Albert Nosker.

They were married on June 8, 1962. Together Jan and Nancy had four children, Lori Olean (Todd), Terry Steinbeiser (Andrew), Chris Silence and Robert Nosker (Jennifer).

Nancy is survived by her husband Jan, four children, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her sister Patricia Jo Zankman of Grand Marais.

There were few moments in Nancy’s life when she was not in the midst of a project. She loved quilting, sewing, knitting, photography, and gardening. She was a woman with a variety of interests, from being a ham radio operator to participating in the auxiliary coast guard. In recent years, she was very active in her church, First Congregational, and her quilt group.

The family is planning a small memorial for immediate family members later in the spring. Friends and other family members will have the option of participating via Zoom. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the First Congregational Church.
