Meet Nancie Deming, a new ECFE teacher at I.S.D. 166.
“I grew up on the front range of Colorado, and moved to northern Minnesota 14 years ago. Currently, I live in Two Harbors with my family. I have an Elementary Education degree from Great Basin College, a Master’s in Special Education from Western Governors University, and a Master’s in Family Education from UMN Twin Cities. I’ve worked as the Parent Educator for ECFE in Lake Superior School District for the past six years and I will continue to serve my families in both districts through ECFE programming.
“My passion is to support parents in any way that I can. Parenting is hard work, but so worth it! I believe that we are stronger when we come together to strengthen and encourage each other on our journey. Sometimes an anxious parent only needs a listening and empathetic ear. I love being those ears and hands and feet when I can. We all want what is best for the children in our community. I’m blessed to be able to build some of those foundations.
“I do not have any chipmunk pets at home. My daughter has a cat who keeps all small animals away from our house. A chipmunk would not be safe! My husband and I are blessed to have four grown children: 3 sons and a daughter. Two of my sons are married, so I have two awesome bonus daughters as well! I’m a Nana to three: a 4-year-old grandson, a 2-year-old granddaughter and their 2 1/2 month old brother. Nana days are the highlight of my week, and a wonderful opportunity for my son and his wife to take a nap!
“Being surrounded by my family is my favorite place to be! We love to be out and about exploring new places. When I get the chance, I’m an avid reader and in quiet moments, I love to craft.”
Editor’s note: Nancie was asked a variety of questions about her past, educational background, why she chose her field of education, family, hobbies, and also asked if she likes chipmunks.
