Motorist charged with DWI, fleeing police




A Duluth man, stopped by a Cook County Sheriff Deputy near Cascade River for speeding through the 40-mph zone on Friday, July 16, led the deputy and an assisting State Patrol Trooper on a brief chase on foot .

Brad Michael Williams, 34, was pulled over for the traffic stop, but then ran from his car. He jumped over one of the stone walls at the Cascade River wayside rest in an apparent attempt to escape. Another sheriff deputy and the state trooper arrived and assisted with the search and Williams was located a short time later. He was found attempting to hide under a tree. He was arrested and brought to Cook County Jail without incident.

Williams has been charged with 3rd degree driving while intoxicated (DWI) and fleeing the police on foot, a gross misdemeanor and a misdemeanor.
