Motorcyclist uninjured in collision with deer




Cook County Law Enforcement received a report of a motorcycle versus deer accident west of Grand Marais at 9:13 a.m. on Thursday, July 9. Fortunately the driver was not injured.

Michel Ouellette, 61, of Orleans, Ontario was leading a group of three motorcyclists, traveling eastbound on a 2008 Harley Davidson, when two deer crossed the road in front of him near Birch Drive. Ouellette saw and avoided the first deer, but was unable to miss the second.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, he hit the deer head-on, but did not lose control of the motorcycle. The deer, a young buck, was killed on impact.

The motorcycle suffered moderate damage and was towed by Cook County Towing.

Ouellette was wearing a helmet. He was shaken by the collision, but refused medical attention.
