Motorcycle and deer collide on Highway 61




A Lutsen man suffered minor injuries when he struck a deer on Highway 61 at approximately 6:54 a.m. on Monday, August 15.

Gunnar Moody was traveling east on Highway 61, riding a 2009 Honda Road Trail motorcycle when a deer ran out in front of him at mile marker 101, near Cascade State Park in Lutsen. Moody struck the deer and crashed.

Lutsen First Responders and Cook County Ambulance were paged and were on scene at 7:10 a.m.

Moody injured his hand, but did not require immediate medical attention. He was able to drive the motorcycle from the accident scene. He was wearing a helmet.

All responders were clear from the scene by 8:02 a.m.

A Cook County Sheriff Deputy was paged to dispatch the injured deer.
