Motorcycle accident casualty

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that on July 25, 2013, Pirjo Biloski, 61, of Thunder Bay passed away from complications from the injuries she received from a motorcycle crash the month before. The accident took place just after noon of June 13 on the straight stretch of Highway 61 between Cascade River State Park and Spruce Creek.

Biloski had been traveling with her husband, Kenneth Biloski when her bike flipped out of control. The couple, on two separate bikes, were attempting to pull back into their lane after deciding it was unsafe to pass the vehicle ahead of them.

Biloski was taken by ambulance to Cook County North Shore Hospital in Grand Marais and transported from there by helicopter to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety reports 1,563 motorcycle-involved accidents in the state in 2012. They resulted in 1,454 injuries and 55 fatalities.
