When the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Registration moved from Isak Hansen’s True Value in Lutsen to the Grand Marais Pharmacy this week, Missy Hagen moved with it. In addition to her DMV duties, Hagen will also help at the drugstore.
Jackson’s Motor Vehicle Registration is moving back to Grand Marais.
On May 1, 2014, Grand Marais Pharmacy will be the new home for Cook County’s Minnesota Motor Vehicle Registry. Bob and Elaine Sample purchased the business from Tom Dwyer, owner operator of Isak Hansen’s True Value in Lutsen, where the vehicle registration has been since 2001.
For many years Cook County residents went to Jackson Café and bus stop in downtown Grand Marais to get tabs and license plates for their vehicles. That changed when Dwyer purchased the business and moved it to Isak Hansen’s True Value store.
“We’re just excited to be able to offer this convenience to the people of Grand Marais and Cook County,” said Bob Sample.
The DMV will be located in the new addition on the main floor of the pharmacy. A separate entrance has been added to the new addition for the convenience to customers.
Hours will remain the same as they have been, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, said Sample.
Besides tabs, a person can purchase new license plates, get a title change, or purchase a license for a mo-ped, R.V., motorcycle, 4-wheeler, boat, snowmobile, or canoe.
Missy Hagen will move with the business and run the operation for the Samples. Hagen will also work in the pharmacy when time allows, said Sample.
