More Library Tech Nights offered

Grand Marais Public Library offers free technical services assistance to members of the community on Wednesdays, February 14, and Wednesday, March 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

These open labs are for adults in the community who need a place to browse the Internet, bring their devices in for assistance, or ask for technical help. No question is too small or big! This event is free to the public and will be staffed by volunteers from Boreal Community Media, Higher Ed, Cook County Schools and Lighthouse for the Blind (from Duluth).

Cook County Community Education is partnering with Boreal Community Media, the Grand Marais Public Library and Cook County Higher Education to host an open computer lab night at the Cook County ISD 166 computer lab on Thursday, February 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

This event is free to the public and will be staffed by volunteers from Boreal Community Media, Higher Ed, and Cook County Schools.

Aaron Windsor, instructor from the Lighthouse Center for Vision Loss will be joining us for these technology nights to assist with technology questions and to offer free 1:1 consultations. The Lighthouse Assistive Technology instructors help individuals who are blind or have low vision learn new ways to access computers and other technology. Aaron holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In addition to years of experience instructing clients in various stages of vision loss on assistive technology and adaptive software, Aaron has passed a rigorous set of tests from Minnesota State Services for the Blind in multiple areas of assistive and conventional technology in order to be able to teach assistive technology to clients referred by that state agency. In addition to teaching technology, Aaron is an adaptive leisure instructor. People who have worked with him in the past few Tech Night workshops have found the information he provides on assistive technology to be literally eye-opening.

All members of the community are invited to come and learn about tools that might improve their experience working with their device.
