A free directory featuring Cook County volunteer and nonprofit groups is coming together, but more information is needed. Leaders of these groups are urged to contact Northern Wilds Media Inc. to participate in the directory and receive a form via e-mail to enter their organization’s information.
So far about half of the county’s 100- plus nonprofit organizations have filled out their forms.
Spearheading this drive is the Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) and Northern Wilds, which are working together to publish the directory.
Once completed, the directory will be mailed to every home in the county. It will also be available at local businesses and organizations, as well as posted online.
Two CCCF volunteers, Richard Olson and Howard Hedstrom, are hoping people get their information in soon. “We’re running out of time. We are targeting early September for distribution,” said Hedstrom.
“It’s an active community and this is something of value to everyone, to have complete information to connect donors and volunteer groups in need,” said Olson, the CCCF board member coordinating this effort.
Hedstrom said a lot of time and effort has gone into this by a lot of people, and he is hoping the book can include all of the groups in the county.
“This is being well received by lots of folks. It’s a worthwhile project that can be a nice benefit to the people living in and visiting Cook County,” said Hedstrom.
To submit information for the directory, please contact Northern Wilds Media at directory@northernwilds.com or call (218) 387-9475. Questions may also be directed to Richard Olson at ricson@boreal.org or (218) 475-0168.
