More fairy gardens to come

We had so much fun creating fairy garden doors, wishing wells, waterfalls, you name it, that I have decided we need to offer the class again. So look forward to seeing it later this summer. We gathered at the Senior Center, young and old, and worked on projects that were easy enough to finish in one session.

Wednesdays at the Senior Center we are finishing up our aprons and beginning our paper piece project. Not everyone is familiar with paper piecing or just haven’t done it in awhile, so we are gathering to tackle it together. Our raffle quilt, which we hope to have completed in June, is made up of paper-pieced blocks. They are beautiful stars, with vibrant colors. If you would like to help with this, stop in on Wednesday.

Join our “Lunch Out and About” group, which meets to have lunch at some of the restaurants in our community. We will meet on the last Wednesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. and travel together for lunch. This month we will be eating at the Wunderbar.

The recent fairy garden project at the Cook County Senior Center drew a nice crowd. Above, Sherri and Christian Lashinski are just finishing up on their fairy garden undertaking. Now they must wait to see if any fairies take flight and alight in their garden.

Cook County has a vibrant and active community of elders. Each week we offer Senior News to highlight our senior citizens. This week’s submission is about the Cook County Senior Center, courtesy of Programs and Service Coordinator Kim Nelson.
