Moose Madness is the place to be

Be sure to look for Murray walking around the city of Grand Marais during Moose Madness, October 18-20. The almost life-size moose frightens some children, but not this little boy!

Whether you travel from Minneapolis, Minnesota or Missoula, Montana or from the Gunflint, Sawbill, Caribou or Arrowhead trails or from Fifth Avenue or Fifth Street in Grand Marais, you will find fun at the end of your journey at the Moose Madness Festival October 18-20, 2013.

The festival grows every year with interesting and enjoyable events being added as Cook County celebrates one of its favorite— and largest—creatures, the magnificent moose!

New this year is the Moose Madness Family Fun Run/Walk, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 at Pincushion Mountain Trails on the Gunflint Trail above Grand Marais. Get there between 7:30 and 8:50 a.m. to register for kids’ races or the 5K run/walk.

Another fun new event is a Contra Dance at North House Folk School with live music from 7 – 9 p.m. Kids of all ages are encouraged to join the fun.

All the usual fun activities are back—scavenger hunts, contests, poetry readings, arts and crafts and much more. Find out about all of the activities at “Moose Central,” otherwise known as the Grand Marais Information Center at 13 North Broadway. While you are there, register to win the grand prize—a two-night stay at none other than the Mangy Moose Motel!

Murray the Moose will once again be wandering the streets of Grand Marais posing for pictures and handing out treats to the kids.

Head to Grand Marais from wherever you are and have a great Moose Madness weekend!
