Moose Madness Family Festival returns Oct. 18-20

Murray the Moose will be on the loose in Grand Marais during Moose Madness next weekend, a weekend of family fun with events and activities for everyone.

Activities range from the athletic to artistic with the weekend focused on earning and spending “moose bucks.”

Kids can earn Moose Bucks by participating in scavenger hunts, races, and arts activities all around town. Once received, Moose Bucks can be spent on prizes at Moose Headquarters, aka Grandma Ray’s.

In addition to activities at Grandma Ray’s, there are fun things to do all around town. The Grand Marais State Bank Medallion Moose Hunt begins Friday at 9 a.m. and ends when someone finds the medallion. Will that be you?

At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, mosey over to the Grand Marais library for a two-hour workshop dedicated to teaching you how to make and create your very own comic book character.

On Saturday, hoof it up to the YMCA for the annual kids’ Moose Mosey fun run, which will start at 9 a.m. From 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Gunflint Mercantile is holding its annual caramel apple decorating activity; you can eat what you decorate!

And don’t forget to stop by Grandma Ray’s to listen to the Bazillions – a kid-themed rock ‘n roll band based out of Minneapolis.

Most importantly, the Moose Madness Festival encourages families to unplug and play. Reconnect by doing the planned activities, enjoying the outdoors, or learning a few facts about our famous mascot. Moosey memories are waiting for you to make them.
